Improvement of the Actions of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock towards Pollution Monitoring of the Nitrates Extension Network and CoGAP Application

Full description of the project

Turkey is in the process of harmonizing its legislation with that of the EU in the field of the environment. It has therefore chosen to cooperate with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forestry in the finalization of the Harmonisation Methods for Nitrate Analysis in Water (NVZ) in order to review and update its monitoring network.

This project will act as a follow-up to the recently completed technical assistance project.

Overall objective

Strengthen the capacity of the Ministry of Nutrition, Agriculture and Livestock (MoFAL) to fulfill its role towards the National Group for the Reduction of Nitrate Pollution from Agricultural Sources and the initiation of the EU Nitrates Directive implementation process.

Specific objectives

• Provide support for the further improvement of data collection and evaluation and the improvement of the capacity of the provincial authorities and the Ministry in this direction;
• Provide strategic advice and support to the Ministry to initiate policies to implement the Code of Good Agricultural Practice (CoGAP).
