Technical Assistance for the Start-up of the Media Support Program

Full description of the project

The only previous program to support the Tunisian media was through the African Center for Advanced Training of Journalists and Communicators (CAPJC) from 2004 to 2007.

The implementation was carried out under difficult political conditions, but the program was able to train many journalists.

This project “Media Support Program in Tunisia – ENI/2014/037-337 is the complementary and structuring step of several projects developed by the EU since 2011, which cover the different aspects of the media sector: promotion of press freedom, support to media unions, strengthening journalistic skills and training, public media, defense of freedom of expression, among others.

Overall objective

Assist the African Center for the Development of Journalists and Communicators (CAPJC) and the EU Delegation in Tunisia in the start-up phase of the project “Media Support Program in Tunisia”.

Specific objectives

• Provide technical assistance for project start-up.
• Identify the need for support and technical assistance from CAPJ
• Propose an institutional set-up to CAPJC for the management of this project
• Prepare, draft, and finalize the contractual documents allowing the launch of the various procurement files.
