Identification and appraisal of a Transport Sector Support Program
Full description of the project
The transport sector was one of the first to be liberalized with the opening of transport activities to the private sector in the early 1990s. Today, this sector is facing new challenges, especially in terms of integration at the international level and, more particularly, at the regional level within the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership, which attaches significant importance to transport issues and identifies this sector as an essential axis in the success of the Partnership.
The overall objective of the mission is to identify and appraise a support program for the water sector in assistance to the Ministry of Water Resources.
The specific objective is to formulate a support program for the Ministry of Water Resources in order to make operational the new water policy through an integrated, dynamic, concerted, and decentralized management of water resources at the level of hydraulic basins.
The issues addressed are :
- A new organization of the transport administration;
- Strengthening of security;
- The emergence of new skills and redistribution of employment;
- Logistical aspects and internationalization of the transport activity;
- Environmental protection;
- Anticipation of the evolution of the sector;
- Organization of the transport surface;
- Information systems.
