Consultancy Services to Support the Higher Education Sector in Mauritius
Detailed Project Description
The project aims to support the Government of the Republic of Mauritius in strengthening the monitoring, governance and quality of the tertiary education sector through targeted technical assistance, performance-based funding mechanisms and an academic skills development programme.
Overall Objective
To sustainably strengthen the national capacity for steering, regulating and monitoring tertiary education in Mauritius, with a view to improving the quality, efficiency and overall performance of the sector.
Specific objectives
• To update and operationalise a quality assurance framework for higher education.
• To design performance-based funding models and an implementation strategy for the public sector.
• To develop a structured programme to enhance the qualifications (up to PhD level) and teaching skills of academic staff.
Expected outcomes
• An action plan adopted to improve the quality assurance framework and a dissemination workshop organised.
• Validated performance-based funding models, accompanied by an implementation strategy and a presentation workshop.
• A programme to strengthen teaching skills and academic qualifications put in place, supported by a workshop explaining the access procedures, in particular
