Study of Cotton Tracks in the Kita and Bougouni Zones (400 Km)

Full description of the project

The CMDT cotton track network represents some 15,000 km (including 3,500 km in the Kita zone) which are generally in poor condition, but of which 6,690 km must be quickly rehabilitated so as not to compromise the progress of the marketing campaigns and to allow for timely evacuation of the traditional harvesting zones under good conditions.

Overall objective

The overall objective of the project is to secure the contribution of the cotton sector to the economic and social development of the country.

Specific objectives

Rehabilitate/reconstruct about 400 km of tracks in areas where the prospects for product development are significant and where the isolation of the area seriously compromises the timely and safe removal of the harvested production. With an improved network of tracks, the competitiveness of the fiber produced will be improved by its quality (timely evacuation) and by the reduction of the corresponding transport costs.
