Support to the Public Establishment of Sound Broadcasting (Algerian Radio) for the Training of Radio journalists in media education

Full description of the project

The National Enterprise of Sound Broadcasting (ENRS) is the public organization of national broadcasting in Algeria. It wanted to implement a policy of media education through the training of young journalists on local radios and Radio JIL FM.

Overall objectives

  • Strengthen the capacity of young Algerian journalists to become informed actors in the information and communication society by developing their skills in filtering and sorting media messages flooding the net and learning to use and produce media content from a critical perspective while respecting professional ethics and rules of conduct.
  • To strengthen the ties between young citizens and their radio through media literacy programs that enable them to develop the ability to distinguish between news, advertising, and propaganda, as well as the ability to protect themselves and be safe on the Internet.

  • Develop the capacity of young Algerian journalists and provide them with the necessary tools to research, select, interpret, and decipher information in the electronic media and social networks, as well as to evaluate the different sources and contents in order to interact on the new media in a responsible and constructive manner.
  • Strengthen the technical capacities of those in charge of the Algerian radio websites.
  • Train journalists, producers, and hosts, responsible for youth programs in other radios, to manage the content of the websites of their respective radios.
  • Organize exchange platforms between the media and their youth
