Technical Assistance to the Secondary Education Support Program

Full description of the project

In the past years, Syria has invested heavily in the education sector, which has led to substantial results in terms of both quality and quantity in the implementation of the principles of democratization and accessibility to compulsory education.

Indeed, the enrollment rate has increased while the dropout rate has decreased. In addition, the literacy rate has increased and the number of schools, colleges, and universities has also increased.

However, important challenges are still needed and must be addressed for the development and consolidation of an education system ready to meet the demands of a knowledge-based economy.

The overall objective of the program is to upgrade the Human Resources in Syria in accordance with national requirements.

The specific objective is to provide Technical Assistance for the implementation of activities related to the Secondary Education Support Program in order to achieve the following results

• Increase the quality of General Secondary education
• Improving Governance within the General Secondary Education sector Establishing and integrating the National Center for Research and Development as a key institution for the conduct of reform and management of the education sector
