Training of Managers in charge of the Administration of Maritime Safety and Fishing Vessel Safety Regulations

Full description of the project

This intervention is part of the assistance provided to the Ministry of Transport in order to strengthen its capacities and more specifically the efficiency of the maritime administration.

The intervention must allow establishing the dimensioning of the system of control of the ships to be set up to reinforce coastal safety on the one hand, and on the other hand, to establish the state of the art of the sector of the construction of the fishing boats, in order to elaborate a program of action as regards regulatory upgrading and training.

Overall Objectives

  • To contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the MARA program and more particularly to the reinforcement of the efficiency of the maritime administration, (b) to allow the rapid and efficient introduction of computerized systems within the Ministry of Transport for the control of maritime traffic, and (c) to improve the system of control of the construction standards of fishing vessels to reach an international standard.

Specific objectives

  • To carry out a study to assess the training needs of the managers responsible for maritime safety administration.
  • The current situation of fisheries regulations (especially in terms of vessel construction standards) and control systems.
